-"And all my days are trances,
And all my nightly dreams
Are where thy grey eye glances,
And where thy footstep gleams-
In what ethereal dances,
By what eternal streams."- (Edgar Allan Poe,"To one in paradise")

I really find this a very fine and accurate painting of Usher, from his white hair down to the delicate fingers strumming on the instrument. Poe tells us that he shunned the light and even his music had to be played in a particular key softly as to not offend his heightened hearing. In your painting, I can see all Usher's trials in his strained expression and in his eyes, the subtle madness of his curse. And one more thing which I see to be a wonderful aspect of this piece, is the lady framed in the background -her expression and stance and even there, details of the doomed house. This is a fascinating Poe offering.
